Last week myself and Councillor Scott Carlton were in Wellow to see the wonderful restoration project of Wellow Church Schoolroom and chat to local residents.
Thanks to the fantastic work of the local Heritage Group, this fantastic part of our history has been restored and transformed into a useful community space and museum to showcase the rich heritage of the community.
The Schoolroom was first built in 1854 and did not close as a school until 1940 when it became a Church and village hall. There are many other examples of buildings with a rich heritage in Wellow, including the 400 year old Red Lion pub.
You can pop down and have a look at the great information boards around the hall, and pick up some free maps and brochures of the wonderful walks around the area.
Wellow hosts a fantastic Maypole celebration every May bank holiday, which I know many of you attend, as I have in the past. If you have not attended yet come on down this year.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with me and I look forward to being back soon.
