Yesterday saw the first Nottingham in Parliament Day, aimed at promoting our County in London and making sure we are at the forefront of people's minds when making decisions about policy, investment, business and everything else...
It was a really enjoyable day with almost 50 Nottingham-themed events, from the Uni of Nottm Table Tennis Team to University Challenge, and Science Experiments to a Forest Legends Soccer School.
It’s about making sure that decision makers, whether that’s political decisions or business or investment or anything else, consider Nottinghamshire and know that it’s a great place to get education, to do business, to see sports or come and visit. If even one more company decides to invest in Nottingham, or one local business gets a boost in their trade because of the event then that’s great. We obviously need to carry on the momentum and make sure as a County we stay at the front of people’s minds down here
I really enjoyed the day and tried to get involved in everything, but I have to say beating the Labour MP for Nottingham East Chris Leslie at table tennis has been my highlight. As any of my constituents who follow my work will know I’m never even slightly competitive of course, but as a Conservative MP it’s always good to win the bragging rights against my local Labour colleagues!
