LOCAL Member of Parliament, Mark Spencer, visited a number of small businesses in the Sherwood Constituency to mark ‘Small Business Saturday’.
Discussing his support for small and local businesses, MP Mark Spencer said they are “the backbone of the British economy. Nearly 16 million people in the UK are employed by small businesses, which is an absolutely huge number.”
“Small business Saturday is designed to emphasis, promote and support small and local businesses across the country, which is a fantastic idea and something I’m absolutely more than happy to do.”
As part of his campaign to promote small businesses across Sherwood, Mark visited ‘Bison IBC Ltd’, based in Blidworth.
Bison is the foremost UK manufacturer of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC’s) in the UK, and are the only UK based manufacturer of stainless steel IBC’s, and have in their range a number of unique and patented products.
Discussing the company, Mark said it was “great that such a specific industry is based right here in the middle of Sherwood. All of their activities, sales, testing, refurbishment and exporting to Europe, Scandinavia and Australia all happens from right here in Blidworth!”
Fred Richardson of Bison IBC Ltd thanked Mark for his visit and his support, and explain that on a tour of the factory in Blidworth “Mark showed a genuine interest and a fair amount of understanding of our products and the processes involved in production.”
“This was borne out by his questions which were intelligent, and he was genuinely interested in the answers. He and I are both from a practical background”.
MP Mark Spencer added that, “As we leave the EU, its small businesses like Blidworth based Bison that will take the economy and the country forward, so I’m really pleased to be able to help and support them.”
