Mark Spencer promotes more research into dementia

February 26, 2019

Very pleased that the Government have launched additional research into dementia. The Care Minister has called for thousands more people with dementia to be involved in research to improve dementia care, support, research and awareness.

This is part of the Dementia 2020 challenge, which we launched back in 2015, and has already made progress to increase diagnosis rates, recruit Dementia Friends, include dementia in general health check-ups, provide health care staff with dementia training, and invest millions in research.

The Care Minister has urged those with dementia to consider participating in this ongoing research. Just 1 per cent of people with a diagnosis are currently involved in studies but we need many, many more to make the breakthroughs to beat this horrible disease.
