MP praises additional funding to tackle knife crime
LOCAL MP, Mark Spencer has praised additional funding the Government has announced in a bid to tackle knife crime.
Earlier this month, the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, announced an additional £100 million of funding in 2019/20 to tackle serious violence and crime.
Discussing the move, MP Mark Spencer said:
“I think this additional funding is a very proactive move from the home secretary. Like most people, I’ve been appalled when I’ve read about the recent knife attacks, so I think this extra £100 million of funding is a huge positive, and will help us not just deal with crime, but also to prevent crime from occurring.”
“It builds on the Police Settlement which the Government announced a few months ago, which increases Police funding by up to £970 million.”
"Specifically for us here in Nottinghamshire, Notts Police should get up to £13.1 million of extra funding, as part of the Police Settlement 2019/20."
