A Statement on the Proposed Development at Hayden Lane, Hucknall

Hayden Lane Statement

The Rt. Hon. Mark Spencer has issued the following statement on the proposed Barwood Homes Development, on the Land Adjacent to Hayden Lane

I have recently become aware of a proposed development on the land adjacent to Hayden Lane. Whilst this proposed development has not yet reached the formal application stages, I wanted to make my views on this matter known.

In recent years, Ashfield District Council and Gedling Borough Council have used Hucknall as a dumping ground for their housing allocations, without any due thought or consideration towards the local services.

This is just another example of their reckless behaviour.

Coming off the back of Ashfield District Council's Emerging Local Plan, and the proposed Whyburn Farm Development, it is easy to see why this proposal has caused so much hurt.

For so long as Gedling Borough and Ashfield District Council continue to swamp Hucknall with houses, we will continue to face the same issues- struggles accessing GP appointments, over congested roads and school place shortages.

When Gedling build houses on the border to Hucknall, they don’t notice the pressure on services at the Civic Offices. It is the people of Hucknall that suffer. It is the people of Hucknall who have issues getting appointments or have trouble with school places.

Therefore, I am calling upon Gedling Borough Council to recognise the immense damage that this development will do to Hucknall and abandon the plans. I will be writing a letter to the Leader of Gedling Borough Council to make my views on the situation clear.
